The APRR group announced yesterday that it had obtained an agreement to deploy 35 new stations following a call for tenders, which will enable them to equip all of its service areas with charging stations before the end of the year 2022.

After SANEF’s announcement a few days ago, it’s APRR and AREA’s turn to announce new locations for charging stations for electric vehicles on French motorways. No less than 35 additional stations will be deployed by various electric mobility players by the end of 2022.

An expanding top-up offer

The approximately 2,300 kilometers of motorways operated by APRR and AREA will accommodate many new charging stations for electric cars, thanks to various market players. Totalenergies, Engie, Fastned and Demeter will install their equipment on the motorways of the south-eastern quarter of France, with on average one station opening every two weeks until the end of the year.

The announced objective is as follows: to have all APRR and AREA service areas equipped with fast charging before the year 2023, which seems to be on the way to being respected, according to the latest press release of the group.

Fast charging on the motorway has become a priority issue for electric mobility, which it is wise to tackle today, when sales of connected vehicles represent more than 15% of car sales in France at the start of the year 2022.

The new stations that will be deployed will be at the level of what is best for the customer, announced APRR, with an awning protecting loaded vehicles from the rain, and photovoltaic panels on certain stations. The layouts will be designed to be able to be enlarged in the near future, and will allow whenever possible the charging of vehicles with a trailer or a caravan.

Finally, APRR specifies that all types of connectors will be offered on the terminals: CCS Combo, CHAdeMO and Type 2, to meet all charging needs. With a maximum power delivered of 350 kW per charging station for the most powerful stations, nearly 300 kilometers of autonomy can be recovered in 15 minutes, which corresponds to a classic break time on the motorway after two hours. driving.
