Amazon: a temporary worker dies of cardiac arrest in a warehouse

A 60-year-old temporary worker died of cardiac arrest on January 18 in an Amazon warehouse.

The facts took place in Brétigny-sur-Orge (Essonne). According to the CGT Amazon France, the victim had been an employee at Amazon since July and worked for the interim specialist Randstad.

The sexagenarian had just started his working day at the time of the tragedy. “For management, it is not a work accident,” Alain Jeault, central CGT union representative, told AFP.

A union source specified that “the victim was at the level of the canteen and did not feel well. He went up, connected and then sat down before having a heart attack. The sexagenarian worked “on one of the most difficult positions on the site, putting items on shelves”.

The interim was assisted by a qualified nurse before the arrival of a doctor, according to Amazon management. “Nothing is more important than the safety of our employees,” she said.

This Tuesday evening, the CGT Amazon France presented to the family of the deceased “its most sincere condolences and thoughts towards his family, his colleagues and his friends.”
