Amazon Games is a publisher and developer, but its catalog is quite thin, so much so that John Smedley left the studio after six years without having his name in the credits of a production. Projects are on the way, but this week, that’s whatAmazon Games announcement of layoffs.
Aftermath revealed the information by citing two anonymous sources, but Amazon Games quickly confirmed the bad news officially. As studio vice president Christoph Hartmann explains, 180 employees are laid off fromAmazon Games. However, the publishing and development sectors appear to be little affected. Chain Crown Channel is closed, as is the initiative Game Growth, aimed at supporting content creators. All the teams are kicked out, Amazon Games wants to focus on Prime Gamingthe offer included in Amazon Prime and which allows you to obtain games and other bonuses via Twitch. As for video games, Amazon Games can rest on Lost Ark And New Worldbut players are obviously waiting for the studio’s other publishing projects, notably the MMO Throne and Liberty And Blue Protocolthe next tomb Raider and the MMO Lord of the Rings.
