Amazon Games reportedly canceled an ambitious Battle Royale codenamed Intensity

Before going out New World, Amazon Games has more than rowed out to release even a game, and despite the enormous resources employed, both economically and humanly speaking. The failure of Crucible is the best example of this, but behind the scenes another canceled game has also caused quite a stir, as the insider reveals Tom Henderson on its Insider Gaming site. This project codenamed Intensity was to be a very ambitious Battle Royalebut nothing went as planned.

A Battle Royale focused on mods

According to the insider, Amazon Games had launched the production of a game using the codes of Battle Royale, as early as 2017when this fashion was just beginning to gain momentum. Intensity then had to immerse the players in Battle Royale matches which followed each other, and which had repercussions between them.

By completing certain missions, it was possible to have an influence on the next match, while factions to join were available. These factions could provide access to specific resources, such as weapons or vehicles, and help in combat. The famous circle of Battle Royale, which gradually reduces the playing field, was also present, with drones which chased the remaining people in order to force them to concentrate towards the middle of the point.

What differentiated the game from its competitors was the fact thatAmazon wanted to make sure to highlight the modding community. It would have been possible to create your own map, NPCs, weapons… In short, you would have been the master of the game.

But none of that happened. Henderson simply states that at the end of 2018, the development became more and more silent to be definitively canceled at the beginning of the year 2019. Thaddeus Sasserex-creative director of Amazon Games during this period, confirmed the insider’s statements.

We imagine that the studio was never really able to find the formula that corresponded to its initial desires, but we don’t know more for the moment. Decidedly, Amazon Games will have tried many things before releasing its first success.
