The Amazon company is taking advantage of CES and the milestone of 150 million Fire TV devices to unveil to the public the extension of its entertainment experience to the field of cars.

Marketing the Amazon Fire TV a few years ago, the online sales juggernaut may not have imagined such success, even if ambition is in its genes. Its media player associated with its remote control and carried by the voice assistant Alexa is popular and has just crossed, announces Amazon, the flattering bar of 150 million devices sold worldwide. The Fire TV Stick was even the best-selling Amazon product on the e-commerce site last Black Friday.

Over a million movies and series available, but limited US Fire TV Auto for now

Now, Fire TV is setting out to conquer the car. And Amazon’s biggest customer is none other than Stellantis, the automotive group born from the merger of PSA and Fiat just a year ago. As an option and in the United States for the moment, Fire TV will equip Jeep, Chrysler, Lincoln and Ford models in the coming months.

Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee, Chrysler Pacifica, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator will integrate Fire TV into their 2022 models. Users will thus be able to benefit from the contribution of Alexa and access more than one million movies, series, TV shows and apps in these vehicles, initially in the US, including Prime Video favorites.

Amazon also wants to match the Fire TV experience on all devices with custom settings, so that the Fire TV can always look the same, whether the user is using it from their living room or from the back seat of the computer. his vehicle. He will also have the possibility to pause a film or a series, to then resume from his car, where he left off.

A Fire TV in mode road trip

The idea is therefore to bring its content everywhere with you. If you are embarking on a road trip, the tool can be useful, especially since it is possible to download Prime Video movies or series to watch them without worry. This option will be useful if you cross or stop in an area that is not covered by mobile data or Wi-Fi.

We will not return to the contribution of Alexa, which allows you to control the Fire TV by voice. It’s always more practical than typing the extended name of your favorite movie on a screen between two potholes. And if your vehicle is equipped with two screens at the rear, it will be possible both to watch different content on each of them and to broadcast the same program on both. It will also be possible to take advantage of the program via Bluetooth, using earphones or a wired headset, or via the vehicle’s speakers.
