Amazon Prime Day: over 100,000 items sold per minute

Amazon can rejoice, Prime Day 2022 went very well. Finally, technically, we should say “the Prime Days”, since the event was spread over two days.

According to data provided by the e-commerce giant, this year saw the company’s biggest Prime Day event yet. Prime members purchased over 300 million items worldwide during those two days.

And that translated into some $1.7 billion in savings for subscribers.

Over 100,000 items sold per minute

Worldwide, Prime members purchased more than 100,000 items per minute during those two days. The most popular categories were Amazon appliances, consumer electronics and home products.

The most popular products, both in the United States and the rest of the world, were Amazon devices: Fire TV, Echo and Blink were among the best-selling items over these two days. Among the other products to have stood out, we can note the Apple Watch Series 7.

In terms of hours, the peak purchase was reached overall between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. (French time) on Tuesday July 12. In the United States, the majority of purchases were made between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. PT (between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. French time) on Wednesday July 13.

SMEs also benefit from Prime Days

Amazon also depends on many business partners, many of which are small and medium-sized businesses. And the latter are no exception, with Prime members spending more than $3 billion on more than 100 million items, included in the “Support Small Businesses to Win Big” sweepstakes.

“Prime Day is a celebration of our Prime members, who look forward to this event every year, and we’re thrilled to have passed on incredible savings to them once again,” said Doug Herrington, CEO of Amazon Worldwide Stores. “This special event is made possible thanks to the support of our employees, suppliers and vendors, and I want to send a big thank you to them for making this Prime Day a moment to remember. »

In the United States, Prime Days were placed under the sign of summer: more than 1.2 million pairs of sunglasses and more than one million swimsuits were purchased by American buyers.
