Amazon Prime Video: the ads are coming!

Amazon Prime Video is following in the footsteps of Netflix and its offering containing advertisements. However, unlike the latter, it will be necessary to pay a supplement: the initial price of the streaming offer will not be reduced. Only four countries are affected at the moment. If France is not on the list, it will not escape it for long.

Amazon Prime Video: a supplement to free yourself from advertisements

The content present in the Amazon Prime Video subscription will be interspersed with advertisements from January 29 in four countries. For the moment, only the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany are affected. On the other hand, the respite will be short for subscribers in France since this new decision will be applied in France by the end of the year. Spain, Australia and Mexico will also be affected.

If Netflix and Disney+ have already launched their respective offers with ads, these two platforms have created a separate and more affordable price. In the case of Prime Video, the only way to escape these advertisements will be to pay an additional €2.99 each month. Jeff Bezos’ company nevertheless affirms that the advertisements broadcast will be less present than on television and than on competing platforms.

With this new formula, Amazon is obviously not trying to attract new customers. The company says it wants to invest these additional revenues in order to develop new content in the long term. Remember that the subscription to the streaming service is included in the Amazon Prime offer, known for offering free and fast delivery of thousands of eligible products on the eponymous e-commerce site.
