Amazon Prime Video is deleting a large number of film and series content from its streaming offer at the beginning of the new year. In some cases, the exact deletion date is already known, with numerous other films and series the end is definitely pending in the next 30 days. On December 30th and 31st, 2021, the Amazon red pencil strikes mercilessly and deletes a total of 41 films and 19 series (seasons) from its streaming program on the two days alone. In January it hits the sci-fi film “Blade Runner 2049”, the musical romance “La La Land” and the Kubrick classic “Eyes Wide Shut”.
Prime Video: Series and films before the end
Popular cult series, successful blockbusters and documentaries get on the “last chance” list every month. In the past month alone, several hundred titles disappeared from the Amazon portfolio. The reason: The corresponding licenses usually expire – because the streaming service only buys the broadcasting rights for a certain period of time. The content can reappear on the streaming platform at some point if Amazon renews the licenses. But that sometimes takes a long time – and there is no guarantee that it will.
Anyone who does not find out about the broadcasting rights in good time can be unlucky that the entire season of the favorite series or a saved film on the watchlist can suddenly no longer be accessed. COMPUTER BILD has therefore created the “last chance” list from Amazon Prime Video. So do not miss anything! Last chance: Amazon Prime deletes titles every month
Like so many streaming providers, Amazon is not very communicative when it comes to leaking content. The users only find out when they expire in the detailed view of a film or series – but even that only from 30 days before the end. Another way to search is in the “Not included in Prime in less than 30 days” category. Quite a cumbersome and not particularly user-friendly undertaking.
