Amazon Prime Video: "Watch Party" soon in Germany?

Amazon Prime Video introduced the new "Watch Party" function in the USA. Up to 100 users can watch series and films together.

Watching films and series together even though you are currently in different locations? This makes Amazon Prime Video possible for its users in the USA. From the cozy home, users can watch up to 99 friends together in a group of series and films without a single user having to leave their own four walls. The function is called "Watch Party", according to US media.

A "Watch Party" does not cost extra, but if you want to participate in one, you must have a membership and be in the United States. One person takes control and can pause for example at any time during the "Watch Party". Participants see the same at all times. A built-in chat supports emojis and text messages.

It's in there

Users can therefore choose from thousands of series and films for a "watch party", including in-house productions and current titles. Films and series that are only available for rental or purchase are apparently not yet supported. "Watch parties" to "Little Fires Everywhere" with Reese Witherspoon (44) and Kerry Washington (43) or other popular titles would soon be conceivable in Germany.

So far it is not known whether the function will actually come to Germany soon – the probability is at least high. A similar feature was released worldwide on the streaming platform "Twitch", which has belonged to Amazon for several years, in June 2020. There it is already possible to view some titles from the Prime Video catalog together.
