A readjustment of the prices of the latest AMD chips which does not yet directly concern French resellers… but it won’t be long?
On August 30, AMD announced the release of its first processors on Zen 4 architecture. Four Ryzen 7000s were then unveiled with a release scheduled for September 27.
High total cost of the AM5 platform
On launch day, there were no bad surprises and AMD did put the Ryzen 5 7600X, Ryzen 7 7700X, Ryzen 9 7900X and Ryzen 9 7950X on the market at prices in line with its announcement, from $259 to $699.
Problem, beyond a dollar / euro conversion which is less and less favorable to us in Europe, it is the question of the cost of the AM5 platform which has made people cringe.
For now, AMD doesn’t seem in a hurry to review the price of its X670/X670E or B650/B650E chipsets. On the other hand, the American company seems ready to make an effort on the processor side.
An effort on the processors
First seen at resellers like Amazon or Newegg, the said drop should not be limited to Black Friday since it is now visible on AMD’s online store with the mention ” new low price which seems to confirm a lasting readjustment of tariffs.
Thus, the Ryzen 9 7950X goes from 699 to 574 dollars when the Ryzen 9 7900X drops to 474 dollars (against 549). The Ryzen 7 7700X is now down to just $349 when it was still $399 a few days ago. Finally the Ryzen 5 7600X goes from 299 to 249 dollars.
A few days ago, ComputerBase had already announced an at least as significant drop in European Ryzen prices. On the AMD site, we can actually discover far more interesting prices than when the processors come out, but we will wait to find them in stores to get excited and check that these are not one-off promotions.
