Ahead of CES 2024, AMD took action by unveiling its next graphics card: the Radeon RX 7600 XT. With this muscular version of the RX 7600, the red team intends to offer a new entry-level reference, capable of displaying games at 1440p.

While Nvidia has just revealed the prices and technical characteristics of its new RTX 4000 SUPER, it is AMD’s turn to speak. Indeed, the red team took advantage of CES 2024 in Las Vegas to announce the Radeon RX 7600 XT, a new entry-level GPU.

With this variation, the brand intends to develop its entry-level offering, which today consists of the first RX 7600 of the name, without forgetting the RX 7700 XT, launched in September 2023. According to AMD , this new graphics card will be available from January 24, 2024, at a price of 329 dollars (prices in euros are not yet known), or 60 dollars more than the original RX 7600.

Concretely, what changes are expected in this new version? Unsurprisingly, this XT-branded model will be satisfied to offer slightly better performance than that offered by the RX 7600. According to AMD CEO Lisa Su, users will be able to smoothly view games up to 1440p. In Full HD, the GPU would offer “1.9x better performance than the GeForce RTX 2060″ according to the manufacturer.

Better performance at 1440p

Concerning the technical specificities, this new RX 7600 XT retains the 32 calculation units, the 2048 flow processors and the 128-bit memory bus of the first model. On the other hand, it marks its difference first of all in doubling the amount of video memorywhich goes from 8 GB of VRAM on the RX 7600 to 16 GB on this XT edition. GPU operating frequencies also climb, from 2.25 GHz to 2.47 GHz base. The boost frequency reaches the 2.76GHzcompared to 2.66 GHz on the RX 7600. The TDP inevitably increases, going from 165W to 190W.

According to AMD, these few modifications will allow players to reach 60 FPS or more in 1440p on recent games like Starfield, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Watch Dogs: Legion or even Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Forza Horizon 5. In another table comparison, AMD claims that its new GPU supplants the RTX 4060 8 GB on certain titles, with FSR 2.0 or 3.0 and the Frame Gen function activated (182 FPS against 101 FPS on COD Modern Warfare 3 for example). Of course, it will be appropriate to carry out tests before taking these statements for granted.
