American Football – ELF: Raiders lose, Vikings win

The Raiders Tirol may have lost in the European League of Football (ELF) on Sunday, but their chances of a play-off spot remain intact. The Innsbruckers lost 33:36 (7:16) to their direct competitor Galaxy in Frankfurt, but are ahead of the Germans in a direct duel for a semi-final ticket. The Vienna Vikings meanwhile won the top game of two conference winners in Vienna against the Barcelona Dragons with 24:18 (7:10).

The Raiders, who won the first game against the Frankfurters at home a few weeks ago 23:17, are holding seven wins and four losses after eleven games. The defending champions Frankfurt, Berlin Thunder and Rhein Fire have the same record. These four teams are fighting for the last remaining semi-final place for the best group runners-up. On the last day of the regular season, the Tyroleans travel to Berlin and have to win there. As winners of the Central Conference, the Vikings have their play-off ticket in their pockets – as do the Dragons (winner South) and the Hamburg Sea Devils (North). The Viennese also secured home rights in the semi-finals with their success against Barcelona. The ELF finals will take place in Klagenfurt on September 25th.
