Feel the tingling sensation on a rollercoaster ride again – that’s what many fun park fans want. This is what the 2021 season looks like.

Because of the corona pandemic, Germany’s fun parks were anything but fun. But with the falling number of cases, the regulations are also loosening, and one amusement park after another is reopening its doors to visitors. Here is an overview.

Heide Park in Lower Saxony

Since May 1st, young and old have been able to experience fun and games again in Heide Park Soltau – but only under certain conditions: “Until further notice, access is only possible with a valid, negative Covid test”, it says on the park’s website. The test must not be older than 24 hours at the time of entry into the park. The good news: if you have been completely vaccinated and can document this accordingly, you do not need a test, of course.

Overnight stays possible again

In addition, those who have recovered will be treated “from now on like those who have been tested and fully vaccinated and do NOT need a negative test,” those responsible continue to write. With a dated day ticket, visitors can again enjoy the “Big Loop”, “Bounty” and Co. Those who want to stay longer can do so, because from now on tourists from other federal states can stay overnight in Lower Saxony again.

Serengeti Park Hodenhagen

We’re staying in Lower Saxony: Since May 11th, families and other visitors to the Serengeti Park Hodenhagen can feel the wind in their hair and the tingling in their stomachs on a roller coaster. But only with a negative test result. If you like, you can also have yourself tested in the entrance area of the park in the drive-in test center, which is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A mask is required (medical masks) according to website in all closed rooms, but the park management generally recommends that visitors “wear a mask in all rides, even if it is not required by law”. From May 22nd, overnight stays can also be booked.

Europa-Park Rust in Baden-Wuerttemberg

Many adventure fans have been waiting a long time for the Europa-Park to open. The time has come on May 21st. Then the popular amusement park near Freiburg will initially receive 3,000 visitors on the opening day as part of a model project by the Ministry of Social Affairs. If everything goes smoothly, 10,000 should then be admitted. A small downer: “The Rulantica water world will remain closed until further notice. Unfortunately, events and the evening cinema are still not able to take place”, announced those responsible. In addition, a negative corona test must also be presented here and, if necessary, renewed if guests want to stay overnight.

Hansa Park in Schleswig-Holstein

The amusement park season of the Hansa-Park is still a while in coming. While the efforts in Sierksdorf were to reopen the fun park as early as April 1, it will not start until June 18, two and a half months late. It is not yet known which specific conditions apply, announced the Hansa-Park. After all, new attractions await visitors, such as the “Awilda’s World” with its two rides, “Awilda’s Lookout” and “Awilda’s Adventure Ride”.

These amusement parks are still closed

It is unclear whether and when the other amusement parks in Germany will be allowed to reopen. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the operators are eager to open up, but have so far not been able to benefit from the most recent easing. The Movie Park in Bottrop and the Phantasialand in Brühl are at least in wait: the latter has already started ticket sales and is hoping to open soon: “Summer is coming – and we are getting ready to welcome you back to Phantasialand soon to be able to be called “, write the operators of the park on their homepage.

Also Legoland friends have to persevere: “According to the resolutions of the Bavarian Cabinet of April 13, the Legoland Deutschland Resort will unfortunately remain closed until further notice.” The same applies to the Playmobil Fun Park in Zirndorf.
