Oscar presenter Amy Schumer spoke about her liposuction in a podcast and also revealed the reasons for it.

In about three weeks, US comedian Amy Schumer (40) will lead through the 94th edition of the Oscars (March 27) alongside Wanda Sykes (57) and Regina Hall (51) as moderator trio. Before the major event of the international film industry, the 40-year-old now gave intimate insights into her private life. As a guest on Chelsea Handlers (47) podcast “Dear Chelsea” she also spoke in detail for the first time about liposuction, which she had performed earlier this year.

“I never thought I would do something like this,” Schumer said of the surgery. So far, the word “liposuction has always sounded crazy” to her. But several things would have taught her better: “turn 40” and “have a caesarean section”, as she lists in the podcast. In 2019 their child was born, son Gene David Fischer (2). The father is Chris Fischer (42), with whom the comedian has been married since 2018.

In addition, she had her uterus and part of the appendix removed in the middle of last year due to severe pain caused by endometriosis. “It healed well and I asked if I could have liposuction. I got it and I’m feeling really good.”

She wants to be honest about it

Handler also explained in the podcast why she wants to be so open about the procedure: “I just wanted to say that because if anyone sees me in pictures now […] and thinks, ‘she looks thinner’, that’s because I had surgery.”

She spoke similarly openly about the desire for another child, which has now become impossible. She is “sad” about not being able to have children of her own. That’s why she wants to enjoy her “little family” all the more. […] We have this one perfect little angel,” said the proud mother.
