On Saturday May 6, 2023, the coronation ceremony of King Charles III will be celebrated across the UK. For this historic moment, a program of celebrations was unveiled on Monday, April 17. The official 84-page document, which sells for £20, also contains souvenir photos, including a full-page snapshot where the royal family seems united.
Taken in the gardens of Clarence House on the occasion of the 70th birthday of King Charles III in November 2018, the photograph brings together the monarch and his wife, Queen Consort Camilla. The couple are surrounded by Prince William, Kate Middleton, their three children, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. A rare photo where the family seems very close. However, the story behind the shot would be much less idyllic.
Princes William and Harry would have complicated the taking of the photo
In an article published on Tuesday, April 18, the Mirror revealed that the photo session had been “an absolute nightmare“. In their biography Finding Freedomthe authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand would indeed have revealed: “Boys can be hot and cold with their dad (…) Neither William nor Harry made much effort to make themselves available“.
THE first tensions between the two brothers were already present at the time of the 70th birthday of the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II. Prince William and Prince Harry would therefore have complicated the task to their father to attend the photo shoot. To achieve the latter, the photographer Chris Jackson had also appealed to a man dressed as a bear to surprise children and get an attractive photo.
