On the occasion of the Geneva Motor Show, Microlino, the Swiss manufacturer of license-free electric carts, lifted the veil on its new Lite variant of the Microlino, accessible from the age of 14. Its price, however, risks discouraging more than one person.

Inspired by the design of the BMW Isetta, the Microlino is available in a Lite version which does not require a driving license other than the AM patent.

Unveiled during the 2024 edition of the Geneva Motor Show, this edition is limited to a maximum speed of 45 km/h and is mainly aimed at a young and urban audience, looking to get around town in style while minimizing their environmental impact. However, with a starting price of €17,990, a notable difference of €10,000 compared to the Citroën Ami, the cost of the Microlino Lite may leave you wondering.

Accessible from 14 years old

Classified in the L6e light quadricycle category, the Microlino Lite can be driven from the age of 14 with an AM license. It is equipped with a 9 kW electric motor and has a 5.5 kWh battery, guaranteeing a range of 93 km in an urban environment. For those who want greater autonomy, it is possible to opt for a 10.5 kWh battery, allowing you to travel up to 177 km, for an additional cost of €2,000. This autonomy exceeds that offered by its main competitors, such as the Citroën Ami or the Fiat Topolino.

A very cute design

The design of the Microlino Lite retains the retro look that contributed to the success of the original version, characterized by a large front door reminiscent of the BMW Isetta, embellished with colorful details. The simple interior layout offers two seats and storage space of 230 liters, which represents a greater capacity than that of the Citroën Ami. However, despite its more premium positioning, the Microlino Lite does not include additional comfort options.

€17,990 base price

The initial cost of the Microlino Lite amounting to €17,990, an increase of €10,000 compared to the Citroën Ami, places this vehicle in a luxury category among light quadricycles without a license. This pricing is justified by Microlino by the use of premium construction materials, such as steel and aluminum, and increased safety. By personalizing the vehicle via the configurator with options such as an Anthracite Berlin matte paint, a sunroof, a premium interior and the 10.5 kWh battery, the final price reaches €21,690, a considerable amount for a vehicle of this category. For comparison, the Citroën Ami is priced at €7,990 and the Fiat Topolino at €9,890. Distribution of the Microlino Lite is scheduled for June 2024.
