An “Employment Fresco” to recruit “sustainably”

Office notebook. “It’s interesting to build ranges of professions”, concludes Peter. With François, Renée, Fabrice and the others, they were a dozen people to participate, Wednesday January 25 in Paris, in a “Fresco of sustainable employment”. After the “Climate Fresco”, which is now practiced within companies to raise employee awareness of the climate emergency, the “Digital Fresco”, a collaborative workshop to understand the environmental challenges of digital technology, green would now be tasted in the job sauce? That’s the idea.

But, within the framework of this vast communication campaign distributed in the companies to spread the good word with all the employees, what does the association Solidarités nouvelles face to unemployment (SNC) do? Specialized in supporting people far from employment, SNC was at the origin of the “Fresques de l’emploi durable” in January 2022 for “to publicize the plan for the transformation of the French economy and to initiate a reflection within companies on how to green the interior trades”specifies François Quintreau, the vice-president of SNC.

Designed both as an employment support system and as a lever for change towards “low-carbon jobs”, this new fresco is a three-hour reflection workshop, where, after a brief presentation of the more or less less polluting, each participant must project themselves into a more “healthy for him” as ” for the planet “. “We thus put black on white that there are virtuous professions and others which are not”, remarks Pierre Lachaize, a polytechnician invested in sustainable innovation and present at the fresco.

“Giving Envy”

“It is not a question of demonizing jobs or sectors, but of promoting the imagination, because the jobs of tomorrow, we do not know them”, explains Lisa Castor, SNC volunteer and host of the January 25 evening. The participants write together the scenario of the greening of professions by embodying a fictional character confronted with very real hazards such as a flood, a divorce or an economic crisis. “It would be interesting to dig a little deeper into the professions to adapt them to your personal situation”, comments Menelaus Kosadinos, a participating student. Imagination is supposed to lead to a dynamic of solutions.

In one year, a dozen “Sustainable employment frescoes” have been addressed pell-mell to employment actors (AFPA, APEC, Pôle emploi, local missions), trade unions and companies. “This fresco is intended to inspire, so that supply meets demand”explains François Quintreau.
