An entire family suspected of having martyred dozens of dogs by hanging

A family running a kennel in Wavrin, near Lille, in the North, is suspected of mistreating dozens of dogs. The whole family was taken into custody on Wednesday April 20.

It is a real ordeal for these dozens of dogs who lived in boxes that were too small, undernourished and tortured. The leaders: a family of 5 people. This family manages a manager of a kennel in Wavrin, near Lille. All family members were taken into custody on Wednesday April 20, according to The voice of the North. The public prosecutor of Lille, Carole Etienne, specified that the five people were suspected “of mistreatment and serious abuse of domestic animalsin particular acts of torture (such as hanging resulting in the death of the animal) and illegal veterinary acts (trafficking in microchips, unregulated euthanasia)“.

In all, 122 dogsliving in horror were discovered by the authorities. This thanks a vast judicial police operation led by the gendarmerie in collaboration with 20 veterinarians from the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations. An operation which was assisted by 37 members of animal protection associations, reports The Parisian. This is how the truth was discovered in the kennel The 2 Cubsin Wavrin, as well as in companies belonging to the same family.

Dogs ate meat scraps

Housed in very small boxes, covered with fleas and excrement, they had absolutely dry bowls of water, which proves that the animals didn’t even have to drinkand lived in unsanitary conditions“, explains Jacques-Charles Fombonne, president of the SPA. “Instead of being fed kibble, dogs ate meat scraps stored at room temperatureleading to the presence of worms and parasites in their organism”, can we read in the columns of The voice of the North.

Besides being malnourished, the dogs were also victims of torture. This family is also suspected of having killed dogs by hanging when the latter could not follow the intensity of the training sessions. It should be noted that in the freezer of a house owned by the family, the gendarmes discovered the corpse of a dog who died of “strong head trauma”again depending on the medium.
