Could an episode on the Covid-19 pandemic be possible in the Grey's Anatomy series? Actress Ellen Pompeo spoke about this.

What if the medical series dealt with the coronavirus in the coming episodes? The question arises more and more and it seems that the idea has already emerged on the side of Grey's Anatomy. It is the main actress of the hit series Ellen Pompeo who confessed to having already asked the question on this subject. Some time ago, she gave an interview to Variety. She explains : "I thought about it. Obviously, we don't want to get too political, but I was just watching the news and came across a video extract from Barack Obama in 2014, who said that a pandemic was inevitable and that we should be there. And then in 2014, the Republicans didn't give him the budget to put together what he thought he needed to keep the American people safe. (…) So, in 2014, Obama was very aware that this was going to happen and that we needed to be more prepared than we were then. So that five years later we are not prepared, it is necessarily that some people have not insured. It's disappointing."

If Ellen Pompeo says she doesn't want the series to become "too political", we notice that the last seasons of Grey's Anatomy have taken a slightly more engaged turn by dealing with topical and often very sensitive social issues. The series has already mentioned violence against women in particular. This initiative was highly praised by critics. If season 16 ended earlier than expected because of the coronavirus and the establishment of containment, canceling the filming of series, Ellen Pompeo therefore already evokes the next season. She also wished to salute the nursing staff who have been fighting for our safety every day since the appearance of the Covid-19: "The fact that they are fighting this fight without the proper equipment is really heartbreaking."

In order to support caregivers and help them have the means to exercise their profession, several producers of medical series have decided to donate to equipment used for the filming of their series. Krista Vernoff, producer of the series Grey's Anatomy had thus declared: "At Station 19, we have around 300 N95 masks in stock which we have delivered to local barracks. And at Grey's Anatomy, we have a supply of blouses and gloves that we will also donate. "
