an essential novelty for the most demanding players

The PS5 welcomes a useful new feature for all those who spend a lot of time in front of the console and who want to have peace of mind. But there is a price for this.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is still absent, but obviously, it could end up arriving during the second half of the year. Before the holidays? If Sony Interactive Entertainment wants to surf Black Friday 2024, it has to. But will players really be willing to pay more? This is not said since the price increase of the PS5 seems to have slowed down sales somewhat. In parallel with this version with boosted performance, the Japanese manufacturer launched something new this week.

New for PS5 and PlayStation Portal available

Before the release of PlayStation Portal, the remote player that allows you to stream PS5 and PS4 games, Sony announced two other new features. The first was wireless in-ear headphones Pulse Explore compatible with PlayStation 5 and PS Portal. Hardware available since December 6, 2023 for €219.99, all the same. At the same time, the Japanese company also promised a more premium edition of the Pulse 3D. It’s done.

The PS5 Pulse Elite headset was put on the market this Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the price of €149.99, compared to €99 for the Pulse 3D. What do you get for this price? “Planar magnetic drivers” for richer, more precise sound reproduction, with clear and deep bass for a “loss-free” result. That’s the promise. Obviously, this supports 3D audio technology in PS5 games, and players shouldn’t have any issues with latency given that it’s rated as “ultra-low.”

The other interesting point if you play multiplayer is that the Pulse Elite headset reduces the noise of the microphone – retractable – using artificial intelligence. The device can also connect to different devices (PS5, PC, Mac, PS Portal, mobile, tablet, etc.) and even simultaneously. For example, you can have audio from a game on PlayStation Portal and audio from a conversation on a smartphone without cutting out either one.

But the subject that always angers is autonomy. Here, Sony announces up to 30 hours as well as a fast recharge to recover two hours of gameplay, by plugging in the PS5 Pulse Elite headset for 10 minutes. A charging support, which can be attached to the wall for example, is also included in the pack.
