The last moments of episode 4 ofAhsoka bring back a major Star Wars character. Its presence is not fortuitous and is easily explained.
How to subscribe to Disney+ to watch Star Wars series
Disney+ is available in France:
There is, at the very end of episode 4 of the series Ahsokaan appearance that since the beginning of the day has obviously caused a lot of ink to flow among fans of Star Wars. Nothing surprising: he is a very prominent character in the cinematographic saga. So to speak, a lot of things revolve around him. And it’s promising for the rest of the series.
This particular character could indeed be very useful to unlock the continuation of the adventures of the heroine Jedi – because the person concerned is in a completely atypical place in Star Wars. We are not going to tell you more immediately, because it would not be a question of inadvertently spoiling you.

Anakin Skywalker returns in Ahsoka
No need to procrastinate any longer: it is indeed Anakin Skywalker who appears at the end of the episode, warmly welcoming Ahsoka Tano, his former padawan. Both characters find themselves in the world between worlds, a plane of existence in which time, reality, matter and space are not all governed by the same rules.
Of course, it is the Canadian actor Hayden Christensen who appears in the guise of Anakin Skywalker, because it was he who played him for the most part in Star Warsboth in the prelogy and in the live action series Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka — and it is also her face that is used in The Clone Wars (film and animated series) and Rebels.
Naturally, Anakin Skywalker appears in a version that Ahsoka is able to recognize (he wasn’t going to show up when he was a kid – when American actor Jake Lloyd played him). Besides, she recognizes him right away. She calls him “Anakin” upon seeing him. And the two seem happy to be reunited after all these years.
It looks like Anakin’s face has undergone some visual effects retouching to make it look younger, like when the actor played the character in the early 2000s. we also perceived in the series Kenobi. Logic: twenty years passed between the films of the prelogy and these two series. It had to be connected.
We knew, before episode 4, that Anakin Skywalker was going to return to the saga, through filming indiscretions and leaks. We suspected it all the more since the character had already signed his big comeback in the saga with Kenobi. Because of the character’s bond with Ahsoka, and the actor’s return to favor with fans, it was inevitable.
We did not know, however, when and how Anakin would appear: in visions? In flashbacks? In the form of a Force ghost (he also has the ability, as evidenced by his appearance at the end of Episode VI — Return of the Jedi — in front of Luke Skywalker, with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda)? Finally, it is in the world between the worlds that he manifests himself.
This return via the world between the worlds is also very intriguing: he is supposed to be dead. However, he is not surrounded by the traditional shimmering halo that surrounds a Force ghost. It gives the impression that he has a physical reality and that he could hug Ahsoka if the mood took him. Or perhaps this phenomenon of brilliance does not apply in this ethereal plane.
Why is Anakin in Ahsoka (and the world between worlds)?
Anyway, Anakin’s presence there is not surprising. The world between worlds is a world where the Force reigns and, above all, it is a world that engenders ” a conduit between the living and the dead “. To be as Force-sensitive as Anakin is (remember, his midi-chlorian levels…), finding him in such a mystical place makes sense.
This is all the more coherent since, at this point in the story, Anakin’s death is proven. He breathed his last at the end of Episode VI, in his son’s arms, after returning to the light side of the Force. All this takes place a few years before the events of the series Ahsoka. That he can now move in this plane of existence is justified.
Because of the situation in which Ahsoka Tano finds herself at this moment, Anakin’s return is timely: the Jedi is in trouble. She was defeated by Baylan Skoll. Sabine, his apprentice, has been captured and taken to another galaxy. Grand Admiral Thrawn is likely to return. She has no means of acting to prevent the course of events.
The intervention of her former master is therefore quite timely: she needs help and the world between worlds, due to its nature beyond time and space, will perhaps allow her to go in the other galaxy. The perils are in any case sufficiently immense for Anakin Skywalker to intervene a little more directly.
On a more theoretical level, and anticipating perhaps a little bit on the sequel, this reunion will perhaps be an opportunity for Anakin to end Ahsoka’s training in a symbolic way. After all, Ahsoka never formally finished her Jedi training. She left the order following a wrongful lawsuit against her, and her master turned sour soon after.
It remains to be seen whether this hypothesis is justified and, if so, what the nature of this ultimate lesson will be. Learning a particular form of stance with a lightsaber? A deepening of his knowledge of the Force? Or will it just be a discussion between the two, which will make Ahsoka realize something.
Will Ahsoka emerge from this streak with renewed wisdom and newfound certainty? Maybe. But you also have to be wary of a twist. Is it really Anakin Skywalker and not a subterfuge, launched for who knows what reason (to test the Jedi? But then, who?). The Darth Vader theme that we hear at the very end raises questions in this respect.
It is hard to believe that it could be an illusion or a trap. After all, we know thanks to episode IX of Star Warswhich takes place much later than the series Ahsoka, that Anakin Skywalker exists in the Force and has remained on the side of good. Indeed, remember: he is one of those voices from beyond the grave who encourage Rey to resist Palpatine.
