an image of the hero in costume has leaked, Gunn reacts!

Superman Legacy several images of the costume appeared on the web and it caused a lot of reaction. Even director James Gunn ended up speaking out!

Superman Legacy changed its name and is now called… SUPERMAN, quite simply. This is the little news of the day that was announced to us for the superhero’s birthday. The new Superman movie is currently filming. The teams are on war footing and the cameras are on full blast. Fans are already buzzing and waiting for only one thing: images! Well, their wish was granted, at least in part, since several images from the shoot have indeed leaked, including the legendary hero’s costume.

First official image of the costume…

A few days ago, the superhero logo had already been shared on social networks. A small image closer to the prototype than to reality in the end, but things have changed since then. This time, it is James Gunn himself who shared an official visual of the costume, more precisely of the colorized logo as it will appear on the torso of David Corenswet, the new Superman.

Unsurprisingly, the logo is identical to what we had seen previously. We can distinguish the famous iconic S which is here almost assimilated to a simple curve in the end. A symbolism on all levels since if this letter is synonymous with Superman here, it has a completely different meaning on Krypton, the planet of origin of our hero.

…and another one allegedly from the shooting

In addition to this very first image of the costume, another photo leaked online and quickly made the rounds on social networks. This time we see the actor in the tight-fitting suit displaying this famous logo. At first glance, we are looking at a rather retro design, close to the old Superman, the haircut speaks for itself. The photograph may be full of watermarks and a little “dirty”, but a question arises: is it really a capture of the shoot or a simple fake? Question to which James Gunn himself responded on social networks, making it clear that it was certainly a crude montage.

As it stands, it still gives us a vague idea of what this new Superman could give, a real reboot which, in addition to returning to the origins of Superman, will at the same time launch the DCU, the connected cinematographic universe which should compete with Marvel, still well established but which has encountered a lot of difficulties recently.

Superman Legacy is expected in theaters by July 2025.
