PARIS (Reuters) – A man threatening to blow himself up was arrested on Friday aboard a TGV in eastern France by an off-duty policeman, police sources said, referring to an incident committed by a mentally unbalanced man. without any real suspicion of terrorism.

The man, who made confused remarks according to these sources, was subdued by an off-duty policeman who carried his weapon on him as part of the “travel to protect” program, as the Minister of the Interior pointed out on Twitter Gérald Darmanin, at the origin of this device.

“This morning, a police officer who benefited from it arrested a threatening individual on board a TGV in Moselle. Congratulations to him!”, declared Gérald Darmanin.

The train, which linked Colmar to Paris, was immobilized at Lorraine TGV station, in Louvigny (Moselle), where the man was handed over to the gendarmes, before leaving for the capital, where he was expected several hours late. .
