an investigation into an out-of-control actor

FRANCE 2 – THURSDAY DECEMBER 7 AT 11 P.M. – MAGAZINE

Difficult to succeed Cyril Hanouna, who allowed “Complément d’investigation” to achieve an absolute audience record with 3.03 million viewers on November 30, plus 1.3 million in replay over three days, according to the channel . Also the magazine presented by Tristan Waleckx is showing some “heavy” content by broadcasting this evening its investigation into the ogre of French cinema, Gérard Depardieu.

Indicted since 2020 for suspicion of rape and sexual assault on actress Charlotte Arnould – the investigation is underway – the actor has not spoken since Mediapart published, in April 2023, the testimony of thirteen women who claim to have been his victims on film sets between 2004 and 2022.

Gérard Depardieu, however, broke his silence by publishing an open letter in Le Figaro from 1er October, in which he denounces a “lynching” orchestrated by the “media court”. This article is one of the documents on which “Additional Investigation” relies on several occasions, as a counterpoint to the accusatory revelations.

First of them, the unpublished images – “that you should never have seen”insists the commentary – from the trip to North Korea by Gérard Depardieu, in September 2018, invited by journalist Yann Moix to join the hundred or so personalities invited on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the dictatorship.

Sexist comments

Yann Moix took the opportunity to film a documentary, which he would have given up on releasing, given the sexist, vulgar and crude comments made by the actor. After watching eighteen hours of recording shot over six days, the grittiest extracts are distilled in several sequences. The viewer will judge for himself. In the interlude, “Gérard old queutard” is written on a sign held up during one of the events organized before one of the “Depardieu chante Barbara” concerts, on tour in France in 2022.

“Additional investigation” also obtained four testimonies from women who accuse the actor. That of the manager Marylène Andrin, who recounts her ” trauma ” (a hand on the buttocks, in particular) during filming, in 2009, from Diamond 13, when she was 23 years old; that of Sarah Brooks, aged 20 when, on the set of Marseille for Netflix in 2015, Gérard Depardieu sexually assaulted her; that of Hélène Darras, who claims to have been sexually assaulted during the filming of Disco (2008), by Fabien Onteniente. During filming, Gérard Depardieu would have, she says, “passed his hand over [s]es hips, on [s]‘s buttocks’. A liberating statement for the young woman, since she decided, following the filming of the show, to file a complaint on September 10, 2023.
