In decline in terms of audiences, the LCS are looking for solutions to bring back viewers. The last considered would be to put the competition in the middle of the week.
In recent years, audiences have been falling for League of Legends Championship (LCS), both in North America and around the world. Indeed, according to esportcharts, during the last Summer Split of the LCS, the number of viewers reached on average 115,000 spectatorsi.e. almost twice less than the other major leagues.
Among the reasons for this phenomenon are the non-broadcasting of the competition in several European countriesincluding France, the low level of play of the teams and especially the growing popularity of VALORANT. Riot Games’ FPS has a big place in North American esports and is starting to take League of Legends’ place on the continent. In fact, to counter this trend, the publisher would seek solutions.
According to the latest Blix.gg rumors, Riot Games has made the decision to broadcast the competition midweek. If the chosen days have not yet been communicated to the teams, everything suggests that we will find the competition on Wednesdays and Thursdays. In particular, this would allow do not encroach on the league of VALORANT in America and to be able to hope to find LoL fans. Note that for the moment, nothing has been decided yet and this change of schedule may never take place.
