Analysis of ATMs could advance investigation

The investigation continues to try to find Émile, a little boy aged two and a half, who has been missing since July 8. Investigators will now analyze the video surveillance cameras of the ATMs.

Since July 8, Émile, a little boy, aged two and a half, is still nowhere to be found. On the day of his disappearance, he was on vacation with his grandparents in the hamlet of Haut-Vernet, located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Whilehe was playing in the garden from the family home, he had escaped the surveillance of the latter who quickly alerted the authorities. Two witnesses claimed to have seen him in a street slope that goes down from his grandparents’ house to the wash house. Only, their versions differed. If one claimed to have seen him going up the street, the other affirmed that he was going down.

Following the disappearance of little Émile, major research systems had been put in place. The area had been extensively searched. The Saint-Hubert dogs had also helped in the hope of finding the boy’s trace. But without success. More than two months after his disappearance, the police are continuing their investigation.

On September 10, The Dauphiné Libéré explained that investigators questioned the neighborhood and possible witnesses in order to find clues concerning Émile’s disappearance. By cross-checking testimonies, they hope to shed light on this affair. Interrogations that last “long time” according to the newspaper. But the authorities in charge of the investigation do not want to leave anything to chance and have therefore decided to take an interest in ATM surveillance cameras which are positioned near the village. And this is not an easy task sincethere are more than 150 of them.

It is not impossible [qu’un éventuel] suspect stopped at one of these ATMs”, declared Jacques-Charles Fombonne, former general of gendarmerie with the Dauphiné Libéré.All precautions must be taken, in the event that the file changes hands, in the months or years to come“, he added. Before insisting on the necessity “that the newly formed team of investigators does not have to do what has not been done“. For now, the investigation continues and Émile’s family, extremely discreet, lets the authorities do their work.

Since the disappearance of the little boy, his parents, Colomban and Marie, had never spoken before giving an interview with Christian Family. They then assured that if they imagined the worst, they could not “stop yourself from hoping”. Recently, they also launched a call for prayer for Émile.
