“Anatomy of a Fall” nominated in five categories, “Oppenheimer” in the lead with thirteen nominations

The contenders for Oscars 2024 were unveiled on Tuesday January 23, a few weeks before the ceremony, which is to take place on March 10. If Oppenheimer is in the lead with 13 nominations, Anatomy of a fallby Justine Triet, is up for five nominations, including best film and best director. The film is also nominated in the categories of best original screenplay, best actress and best editing. Palme d’Or at Cannes, the French feature film was rewarded with two Golden Globes at the beginning of January.

The film is, however, not nominated in the best international film category: it was not chosen to represent France, in favor of The Passion of Dodin Bouffanta historical romance between two gourmets – a choice which caused controversy and which now sounds like a failure since it was ultimately not selected by the Academy of Oscars.

The other great triumph of 2023 at the box office, barbieby Greta Gerwig, received eight nominations. Poor creaturesby Yorgos Lanthimos, a feature film which depicts a feminine Frankenstein in the Victorian era, was nominated eleven times and Killers of the Flower Moonfilm by Martin Scorsese about the assassinations of Native Americans in Oklahoma at the beginning of the 20th centurye century, in ten categories.
