Android 12L Beta 3 is coming, but what is Android 12L and how to enjoy it?

Only one month after the deployment of the second beta ofAndroid 12L
the third and last test version is already available on the smartphones
pixels.

Google created a surprise last October when it announced the launch of Android 12L, dedicated to tablets and smartphones with very large screens, as well as folding devices. He had already warned that this new system would be entitled to three beta versions before its official launch scheduled for this year. It’s done: beta 3 is now available!

Beta 3: what’s new?

While no official release date has been announced, Google is planning the launch of Android 12L in the first quarter of 2022. With the arrival of Beta 3 ─ which will supposedly be the last ─, the official launch should not take long.

As this is the third version, don’t expect many updates. It was mainly for Google to rectify the errors and bugs of previous versions and to improve the behavior of the new APIs.

In particular, Google has identified and corrected three errors in betas 1 and 2:

1. A bug that prevented the display of weather information in the widget System At-a-glance,
2. A problem regarding the display of the screen animation when it is turned off,
3. The system launcher fails when trying to enter split-screen mode using the “Pin to Top” option.

Who can benefit from Android 12L beta 3?

The problem with using Android is that many apps are not optimized on a device with a large screen, such as tablets. This is where Android 12L comes in. It promises a responsive interface that adapts better to these devices and optimizes the compatibility mode. Thus, this new operating system is dedicated to large-screen smartphones, tablets and folding mobiles ─ and not just to the latest devices.

For the first time since the launch of Android 12L, support for Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 pro has been added. So, all Pixel devices are now compatible.

As for the Galaxy Tab S8, they will initially be released in the classic Android 12 version, with the One UI 4 interface. However, Samsung has confirmed that the tablets will be updated later.
