Android 13 is coming to the transparent phone very soon

The Nothing phone (1) took its time to upgrade to Android 13, but the time has finally come. At least for the beta program.

When a new brand hits the market, there is always something exciting. The first users of the Nothing phone (1), with its LEDs on the back and its very refined philosophy, no doubt know something about it. But who says first generation of a product often says wiping the plasters. It is rare for a brand to succeed flawlessly from the start, the Steam Deck or the Galaxy S22 Ultra, with its first RNDA 2 GPU for smartphones, have had bitter experience of this.

For buyers of the Nothing phone (1), even if overall happiness is there, one point could upset the crowds. The arrival of Android 13 is long overdue. While all the heavyweights in the industry, Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus, Xiaomi all started rolling out the update, Nothing took its time a bit more.

Android 13 beta is coming soon

Who better than Carl Pei, co-founder of the brand, to announce the news? The media boss published a fairly clear tweet on the subject:

Nothing OS Android 13 closed beta starts today. Open beta in two weeks.

—Carl Pei (@getpeid) November 30, 2022

He indicates there that the open beta of Android 13 will start on the Nothing phone (1) within two weeks. We can therefore expect it from around December 14. It’s a little late for an open beta, but it will show what features Android 13 Nothing has packed into its interface.

It’s hard to completely blame a young brand on this point. Software monitoring is a complicated subject that requires a lot of means and tests. Some giants who today shine with their speed have taken years to find their rhythm. We can therefore pass the towel for this first product, hoping that the young London brand will improve over the years.
