Dark mode has become a popular option among Android users. According to a survey conducted by the site Android Authority, 81.9% of respondents said they use dark mode wherever it is available. However, some apps have not yet integrated this feature, which can be frustrating for users who prefer a darker interface.

Android 15 would provide, according to journalist Mishaal Rahman, a solution to this problem with a feature called “make all apps dark”. This new option, hidden in the Accessibility category of the interface settings, would allow you to force dark mode in all applications, even those that do not offer it natively.
Unlike the existing “override force-dark” option present in developer mode, “make all apps dark” seems to be more effective and allows a larger number of applications to be affected. It works by analyzing each view of the app and automatically applies a dark theme before it is displayed on the screen.
This new function offers several advantages. First of all, it improves visual comfort by reducing screen brightness, which is particularly useful when using it in the dark. In addition, it can help save energy, particularly on devices equipped with an Oled screen for which a black pixel is an off pixel, thus reducing battery consumption.
Although “make all apps dark” is not available in the latest Android 15 beta, it should be rolled out in its next version. Android 15 Beta 2 must indeed be revealed on May 14, during the Google I/O conference, and that is probably when this feature will be made public.
