Android 15 would allow multiple headsets and earphones to be connected to the same audio source

2024 marks the deployment of major updates. Apple announces that iOS 18 will be an important update, while Google is preparing the next version of its operating system with Android 15. This version should also integrate the Auracast functionality.

Android could introduce Auracast functionality

Manufacturers have been integrating Bluetooth LE Audio into certain audio devices for about a year and a half. According to Android Authority, Android 15 will benefit from the Auracast functionality thanks to this new standard. The principle ? Connect multiple Bluetooth headphones, headsets or speakers to the same source.

Using this technology, everyone listens to music, a podcast or even a film from their own device. Practical if everyone has their preferences in terms of sound experience.

Although Google has not confirmed anything, Android Authority has gotten its hands on code from the QPR2 Beta 3 version of Android 14, which suggests the deployment of Auracast via the next version of the OS.

It is therefore to be expected that in 2024 an increasing number of audio devices compatible with Auracast will come onto the market. Several smartphones in circulation have already integrated this functionality for sharing sound content from the same source.

Future Pixel Buds headphones compatible with Bluetooth LE Audio?

According to Android Authority, the feature will be accessible from Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences. For the moment, Google has not yet released Pixel Buds headphones compatible with Bluetooth LE Audio. We can therefore expect a new generation to have this technology to take advantage of Auracast, which promises to be a major feature of Android 15.

Perhaps in 2024 to accompany the release of a Pixel 9 announced as better in terms of design and photography, who knows?
