Android’s Nearby Share, also called Nearby share, is coming to Windows PC. What a little more to compete with AirDrop.
How do you transfer your files from your smartphone to your Windows PC? If a good old USB cable does the trick, many people send their file by email. Cloud solutions like using Google Photos to transfer snaps always save time. And if it was possible to do without all that, but also cable? It will soon be a reality.
Apple device users, especially those with a macOS machine and an iPhone, like to remember that AirDrop, the process for transferring files wirelessly from one Apple device to another, is still a real advantage of this ecosystem. Google just announced that its AirDrop equivalent for Android, Nearby Share, is coming to Windows PC.
How do I use Nearby Share?
To enable this, Google has developed a Windows app. This is currently not available in France and is still in beta, but here is how it works briefly.
It is possible to transfer just about any type of file, video, documents, audio or even entire folders, from any fairly new Android smartphone (Android 6 and above), to a Windows 10 PC and above. Once the application is correctly configured, it is also possible to do the reverse and send files from your computer to an Android smartphone.
We find the visibility system already present on Android smartphone, which makes it possible to make the device visible to contacts, to its own devices, to everyone or even to no one in order to be quiet.
To activate nearby sharing on your smartphone, it is imperative that Bluetooth is activated, then you will have to look in your shortcuts pane for the nearby sharing icon.
