Angela Merkel welcomed Denmark’s Queen Margrethe II and Crown Prince Frederik in Berlin.

Angela Merkel (67) welcomed the Danish Queen Margrethe II (81) and Crown Prince Frederik (53) to the Federal Chancellery this Wednesday (November 10th). The outgoing Chancellor posed for the photographers in a royal blue blazer, followed by lunch. Queen Margrethe chose a powder blue costume with a hat of the same color for the occasion. Her son wore a dark blue suit with a striped tie. The Chancellor showed according to the Instagram post of the Danish royal family also gave the two visitors a view of the Reichstag building and the Berlin television tower.

“Close relationship” between countries

The meeting is “an expression of the close and friendly relations between Germany and Denmark”, tweeted Ulrike Demmer, Deputy Spokeswoman for the Federal Government. The Danish royals had previously paid a visit to Bellevue Palace and met Frank-Walter Steinmeier (65). In the evening, the Federal President will also hold a state banquet in her honor. The state visit will take Queen Margrethe II to Munich on Friday, where she will visit cultural institutions and meet business representatives.
