Angela Merkel: Your life will be filmed in a TVNow documentary

TVNow dedicates a four-part documentary to Chancellor Angela Merkel. Journalist Stefan Aust and UFA Fiction will implement the series.

The life of Angela Merkel (66) is filmed. TVNow, the streaming service of Mediengruppe RTL, will show a four-part documentary about the life of the Chancellor, who is in her fourth and final term in office. UFA Fiction is putting the project into action and has brought prominent journalists on board.

The script for the project is written by Stefan Aust (74), author and publisher of "Welt" and "Welt am Sonntag" as well as long-time editor-in-chief of the news magazine "Der Spiegel". "It is the story of an extraordinary politician and her time – her rise to power, her chancellorship, her struggles, her influence on German and international politics – and her last year as Chancellor", Aust gives an outlook on the content of Merkel -Documentation. The broadcast is planned for the end of 2021. Aust already worked with UFA Fiction for the documentary "Hannelore Kohl – the first woman", and it is his first project with TVNow.

A documentary about Wirecard is also planned

The Merkel documentary is already the second UFA fiction production announced for TVNow. Directed by Raymond Ley (62), who is also writing the script together with his wife Hannah Ley (50), a 90-minute docu-drama will be created that the streaming service will show in the first quarter of 2021. The documentary film adaptation will shed light on the accounting scandal surrounding the Dax company Wirecard.
