Matt Damon: No collaboration with Ben Affleck after “Good Will Hunting”
Matt Damon, 51, and Ben Affleck, 49, literally made history with “Good Will Hunting.” Not only did they celebrate their ultimate actor breakthrough with this film, but they also won the 1998 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. An unbelievable success and yet it would be 23 years before Damon and Affleck wrote a script together again. At the premiere of her current film “The Last Duel”, Matt Damon reveals to “E! News” that it was not about high expectations that prevented them from working together, it was just a matter of planning.
The 51-year-old explains that he and Affleck thought they would “never find the time” to write another script such as “Good Will Hunting”. But they recognized: “If we only worked in the hours that we can easily shovel free, we could do a lot.” As it turned out, completing the project wasn’t as difficult as expected. “We wrote it faster than we thought,” says Damon. Matt Damon: He’s not allowed to kiss Ben Affleck
Ben Affleck, 49, has now revealed details about his new film “The Last Duel”, which starts in cinemas on October 14, in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight”. Actually, his colleague and buddy Matt Damon, 51, was supposed to kiss him in one scene. But fans will be disappointed – the scene was changed so that Matt “just” kneels in front of Ben. “It’s the same at home,” jokes Ben. “When he started directing, I actually had to get into his house that way,” adds Matt with a laugh.
