For her, Hollywood today is “not a healthy place”

Angelina Jolie would no longer pursue a career as an actress today, as she reveals in a new interview.
Today, Angelina Jolie (48) looks at her successful Hollywood career with different and, above all, critical eyes. In an interview The Oscar winner explained to the “Wall Street Journal” that she probably “wouldn’t be an actress today.”
Angelina Jolie “never found Hollywood important”
“When I started, it wasn’t a big expectation to be so public and share so much,” Jolie continues. Although Jolie grew up there and her parents were actors, Hollywood never impressed her. “I never saw it as significant or important,” explains the mother of six. On the contrary, she finds Hollywood to be “not a healthy place.”
Today she is considering leaving her home in Los Angeles. Because she lacks “a social life” there. Whenever she leaves her house, there are paparazzi lurking there. After her divorce from Brad Pitt (59) in 2019, she “lost the opportunity to live and travel so freely,” notes Jolie. In the future, she hopes to spend more time at her home in Cambodia: “I’ll move when I can.”
She hasn’t “been herself” for decades
Since her divorce from Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie has been seen in films significantly less than before. Most recently, she played the role of the warrior Thena in Marvel’s “Eternals” in 2021. In September she revealed “Vogue” in an interview, that she only accepted jobs “that didn’t require long filming times.” The reason is that she “still needed a lot of healing.” “We are still finding our footing,” she said literally.
The actress, who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the drama Girl, Interrupted, also revealed that she feels “a little down these days.” “I don’t feel like I’ve been myself in a decade,” Jolie explained.
