Massive Attack guitarist Angelo Bruschini has died of complications from lung cancer, his band has confirmed.
Massive Attack guitarist Angelo Bruschini has died, his bandmates have confirmed. Rumors of the Bristol music legend’s death first began circulating on Monday evening, with Massive Attack (since 1987) confirming the sad news on Tuesday morning (October 24).
“RIP Angelo” and “Rest in Peace, Ange x”
As “bristolpost.co.uk” also reports, the musician had previously made it public that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer. In a post on X the band wrote: “RIP Angelo. A unique, brilliant and eccentric talent. It is impossible to evaluate your contribution to the Massive Attack canon. How lucky we were to share such a life together.”
Angelo Bruschini joined the British trip-hop band Massive Attack in the 1990s and played with his fellow musicians in the studio and at live shows. The band’s 1998 hit “Angel”, which has appeared in numerous TV shows, commercials and films, is particularly closely associated with him.
Bruschini also played for a number of other bands, including The Numbers, Rimshots and The Blue Airplanes, the latter of which was featured on Monday nights in a Facebook post paid tribute to their “brother”. “We are devastated to announce the death of our brother Angelo Bruschini,” they wrote. “Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Ange x.”
