During his announcements in Haute-Garonne, to calm the anger of farmers, Gabriel Attal called for an “agricultural surge”. If the Prime Minister’s visit and the announced measures only convinced some of the demonstrators, the head of government engaged in a real seduction operation.

The anger of farmers continues this Saturday morning, even if the emblematic dam on the A64 in Carbonne must be lifted by noon. Some demonstrators are calling for continued mobilization, because they are not satisfied enough with Gabriel Attal’s announcements in Haute-Garonne on Friday. To try to calm the discontent, the Prime Minister presented ten immediate simplification measures, such as the reduction of standards on agricultural hedges, the end of the clearing obligation or the limitation to only one administrative control per year.

“There is only one vision of agriculture”

With these announcements, Gabriel Attal wants something concrete to initiate a “real agricultural surge”. “This meeting also means that we have decided to put agriculture above everything else,” assured the Prime Minister during his announcements. “This is what our presence means today with my two ministers, Marc Fesneau and Christophe Béchu. Both of their presence is also important because it allows us to remember one thing, which is that the government is talking about one voice. There is only one vision of agriculture.”

Gabriel Attal continues his seduction operation in front of breeders by attacking environmentalists and their environmental standards, or the European Union and its free trade treaties such as Mercosur. A half-paying strategy: the Carbonne blockade will be lifted this Saturday, but the FNSEA and the Young Farmers announce that they will continue their blockade.
