Netflix will show the documentary “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me” from May 16th. A trailer promises new insights into the life of the Playmates.
She was one of the best-known Playmates during her lifetime, was considered a sex symbol and died in 2007 at the age of 39 after an overdose: Netflix wants to shed new light on the story of Anna Nicole Smith (1967-2007) in a new documentary. As the streaming service has announced, “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me” will be available from May 16 and will paint “a moving, clear and yet sensitive portrait”.
A trailer released on April 17th promises previously unreleased material such as home videos, reports from close confidants and never-before-seen insights into the life of the blonde. Even Anna Nicole Smith’s own voice can be heard.
Director: Anna Nicole Smith was ‘destroyed by our culture’
Director Ursula Macfarlane explains in a press release for the streaming service: “I am telling the story of Anna Nicole as a mystery story. How could someone with so much charisma, with such unique beauty and with the world at their feet fall so low? I think it is time to report on the life of another beautiful woman who has often been scrutinized and ultimately destroyed by our culture.”
Anna Nicole Smith became known in the 1990s as a model, including for the US “Playboy” and the Guess brand, and became a sex symbol. After the death of her husband J. Howard Marshall II (1905-1995), who was 62 years her senior, a bitter dispute over his inheritance and the death of her son from her first marriage and a second child from two possible fathers dominated the headlines. Smith died on February 8, 2007 at the age of 39 after an overdose.
