Anna (TF1): why actress Sasha Luss “several times wanted to abandon” this film by Luc Besson

Broadcast this evening on TF1, the muscular entertainment of Luc Besson, Anna, honors actress Sasha Luss. But the young actress almost slammed the door of this feature film several times… Here’s why.

In the early 1990s, between Moscow and Paris, the adventures of a young KGB spy, who pretends to be a model… Such is the pitch of the muscular Anna (released in 2019 and broadcast this evening on TF1), signed Luc Besson, with actress and former Russian top model Sasha Luss as the heroine. If this feature film by the director of Fifth element or even of Leon marks the first real steps on the big screen of its main actress (she had previously played a small role as an alien princess in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets), he also almost made him quit the job sooner than expected… Indeed, the demands of the 62-year-old French filmmaker – in controversy since the accusations of rape, the testimonies of his former companions and his loss management of EuropaCorp- for some action sequences were obviously a bit too heavy for novice shoulders to bear.

“I wanted to give up several times”

Is not movie star who wants. And acting is sometimes physically exhausting, especially when filming action scenes with violent fights and sharp (flying!) plates, as in the script of the film Anna. Guest on the waves of RTL in July 2019 to discuss his role in this feature film by Luc Besson (film which was murdered by the North American press), the young actress Sasha Luss did not hide having wanted to slam the door of this project many times: “I would be lying if I said it wasn’t difficult because I’m not very strong physically and I didn’t know anything about martial arts, so it was a real challenge. I was lucky to have had an excellent coach for whom it was not easy either because I wanted to give up several times”. Fortunately for the 29-year-old apprentice actress, the experience was not traumatic and she concludes on the subject by thanking her coach again: “He managed to toughen me up while making it fun”.
