Anne Hidalgo was the guest of Alba Ventura on RTL this Monday, January 24. An interview during which the socialist candidate for the presidential election did not appreciate certain remarks of the journalist, and did not hesitate to let him know.
A very sluggish campaign. Anne Hidalgo was the guest of Alba Ventura and François Lenglet in the “Country Breakfast” of RTL this Monday, January 24. From the start of the interview, the journalist wanted to address the complicated situation facing the PS candidate in the presidential election. “This campaign is not easy. Your polls are not taking off, you are around 3%. Your last meeting did not draw crowds. Christiane Taubira is competing with you. Anne Hidalgo, you are mayor of Paris. You were comfortably re-elected in 2020. What did you do in this mess? asked Alba Ventura.
Shortly after, the political interviewer wanted to talk about the Parisian meeting of Anne Hidalgo which took place this Saturday January 22 in Aubervilliers in Seine Saint-Denis. “The image of this meeting is devastating”, estimated Alba Ventura about the low attendance during the speech of the candidate. A remark that the latter immediately contested “Absolutely not. I totally disagree“.”A third of the chairs were empty. I saw the pictures!”, replied the RTL journalist. To which Anne Hidalgo replied: “You saw the images and I was there in this meeting. Besides, you should have come”.

To insist on his remarks, Alba Ventura mentioned the absence at this meeting of tenors of the left like Martine Aubry and Bernard Cazeneuve. The remark too much for the mayor of Paris who did not hide his annoyance. “Honestly, Alba Ventura, is that why you’re inviting me this morning? This meeting in the middle of Covid brought together 1,200 people”. A figure disputed by the journalist. “Dear Alba Ventura, we can spend the whole interview commenting on this kind of thing which, I assure you, does not interest the French very much., then lamented the candidate, before adding: “This campaign has not really started yet.“. A remark that again made Alba Ventura react: “You said that four months ago!“
