Another “new” – learned at Bayern Munich, landed at Altach

Actually, the squad planning in terms of field players at the SPG Altach/Vorderland was completed. But on Wednesday morning, the Rheindörflers announced on their social media channels that offensive player Leonie Schmidle had signed.

The 20-year-old was – like Vera Ellgass, who also moved to Altach in the summer – most recently under contract with the German regional league club Alberweiler and is an interesting personality: Schmidle, who began her sporting career at the age of three as an athlete and later also competed in ski races, was already playing as a 14-year-old for the U17s of the Bayern Munich women in the Bavarian state league. At Alberweiler she scored nine times in 22 games last season. On the way to the next step “Leo” comes from the Tyrolean community of Jungholz – a duty-exempt area like the Kleinwalsertal. To get to her homeland, she always has to drive through Germany. It’s a 90-minute drive to Altach – a long journey, which she is happy to take on for the next step in her career.
