The 2021-2022 financial year ended on March 31 with a succession of new records for Capcom. With 802 million euros in turnover, the publisher achieved an increase of 15.5% compared to the previous year and is not very far from equaling its record for the 2018-2019 financial year which had concluded on a little more than 807 million euros, in particular thanks to the success of Monster Hunter World. Its operating profit jumped by 24% compared to last year, to reach the tidy sum of 312.7 million euros. Capcom is pleased to have recorded increased profits for the ninth consecutive year.
A success that Capcom owes in part to the increase in its sales volume, which this year reached 32.6 million units sold against 30.1 million in the previous year, driven by the successes recorded by Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter. Stories 2: Wings of Ruin which respectively found 6.1 million and 1.5 million takers. Capcom also highlights the still very strong popularity of titles already well established in its catalog such as Resident Evil 7 and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, without forgetting the recent release of Monster Hunter Rise on PC at the beginning of the year which allowed the title to cross the milestone of 9 million copies distributed. In total, the publisher can boast of having sold 125 million stamped games resident Evil80 million monster hunter or 47 million street fighter.
On the strength of these excellent results, the publisher anticipates an even more successful 2022-2023 year and is aiming for a turnover of 874.4 million euros, an operating result of 349.8 million euros and 37 million of past games. Capcom has indeed some big projects in its boxes, in the forefront of which Street Fighter 6, Exoprimal or Pragmata. If none has yet been formalized for the fiscal year that has just begun, we do know for sure that the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion will be available on Switch and PC on June 30.
