Anthony Bourbon (Who wants to be my partner?): “When I was young and poor, no one believed in me”

At 16, he was living on the streets. Today at the head of Feed, a company specializing in nutrition, Anthony Bourbon is one of the new negotiators for Who wants to be my partner? on M6.

How to qualify season 2 of this show that helps young entrepreneurs?

ANTHONY BOURBON: It is more punchy than the first. I tried to put some power in it. And the casting is more successful. One of its merits is to propose very different projects.

How do you spot a good deal?

It’s intuition. But the person who defends his project must be authentic. It also depends on the market to which the product belongs. The buoyant sectors are Fintech (financial technology, editor’s note), beauty, “made in France”, products that respect the environment.

They say you were homeless and became a millionaire. Is it true ?

I had an abusive father and a depressed mother. After their divorce, I got together with my mother, but we couldn’t get along. And so when I was asked to leave, I did not resist. I already had the entrepreneur’s ego, I didn’t want to feel sorry for myself. But I don’t want to talk about this period, I prefer to send a positive message. This is what allowed me to be who I am. What doesn’t destroy you can make you stronger.

What are your ties with your family?

I have none left, and I avoid returning to Bordeaux, where I was born. Too many bad memories.

And one day, you meet Mélanie Der, today your partner at Feed, who believed in you. Do you consider yourself an example of meritocracy?

There are few examples of success that come from below today. There have been Bernard Tapiebut it ended badly for him because he had forgotten where he came from.

Have you been accepted by this environment?

When you have money, everyone accepts you. A rich man does not open his doors to a poor man. He sometimes goes to his house to see what it looks like. When I was young and poor, I had the same brain… but no one believed in me.

Do you have political ambitions?

Behind any entrepreneurial adventure hides a political vision. But I prefer to stay in business. In any case, we need a real change. The country will self-destruct within twenty to twenty-five years maximum. And people will rise up, it won’t come from the elites. Power, it does not ask. It takes.
