Anti-blue light glasses for gamers (and others) with GMG Performance

As a reminder, blue light is the part of the visible spectrum with shorter and therefore more energetic wavelengths, between approximately 380 and 500 nm. It is produced naturally by the sun, but also by artificial light sources such as LEDs. It is particularly talked about a lot with the growing exposure to screens and related risks.

L’National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (handles) published a report in 2019 which discusses the effects on human health of systems using LEDs. This was an update of a 2010 expertise.

L’handles thus confirmed blue light toxicity on the retina of the eye with acute and long-term exposure with chronic exposure, as well as disruptive effects on the body clock and sleep with evening or nighttime exposure. In the case of screens, it is the overexposure that is harmful.

GMG Performance distributes solutions

Means of protection against blue light exist with variable filtering efficiency. In particular, there are dedicated glasses that can be a solution to consider in the context of prolonged exposure to screens and also to help combat eye fatigue.

It is on the basis of the observation of several studies on the subject that the Mark GMG-Performance was born and now distributes blue light blocking glasses. It claims more than 100,000 customers in around thirty countries and is positioned mainly in the field of video games in order to improve the comfort of gamers. This is a public that is indeed particularly subject to overexposure to screens.

The aim with such devices is therefore to block a substantial part of the light – in this case blue light – whose wavelengths are recognized as the most toxic for the retina of the eye. These glasses are not glasses with vision correction, but they can be worn with contact lenses.

The GMG Performer for a better filtering rate

In its range of anti-blue light glasses, GMG-Performance offers the GMG Performers with the highest advertised filtering rate of 60%. Their particularity compared to the other models (all are in one size and standard) is to have lenses with a strong yellow tint which contributes to the higher level of filtering. So it’s not just a question of looks…

With case and microfiber cleaning cloth, the GMG Performer at 79 € are in any case promised with minimal alteration of digital colors. For gamers, eye reflexes and concentration in front of a screen are supposed to be improved.

A product to consider therefore for gamers concerned about the protection of their eyes.
