Apartment in Innsbruck – almost tragedy because of forgotten towel on the stove

The resident of an apartment building in Innsbruck was lucky in misfortune on Tuesday evening: The 59-year-old had forgotten a tea towel on the stove, which caused it to burn. The fire brigade encountered two people in the smoke-filled apartment.

The professional fire department was called to the operation around 6:30 p.m. A neighbor noticed a burning smell in the stairwell. A tea towel had ignited in the apartment in question, which the resident, a 59-year-old local, had left on the stove when it was switched on. The fire went out by itself. Fortunately, when the emergency services arrived at the apartment building, the fire had already gone out by itself. Nevertheless, the apartment was full of smoke and had to be ventilated by the fire department. Two people present were examined for smoke poisoning. The emergency services also found a man and a woman (25 and 23) in the apartment. The rescue team examined the two locals because they suspected smoke poisoning, but were able to give the all-clear: both were uninjured.
