The fourteenth season of the acclaimed battle royale Apex Legends is just around the corner, and players everywhere can’t wait to see what it will bring. It is thanks to a short film from the series “Stories from the Wild Lands” called “Survive”to learn more about the new champion to join the Apex arena.

The latest episode of Tales from the Wild Lands begins in a frozen forest on the planet of Pagoson which we find our new Apex champion, Vantage. The heroine seems comfortable in this extreme environment, defined as “a land where everyone is free”. Mara, by her first name, is a Legend specialized in long range combat, it is also for this reason that it is equipped with a completely new sniper in the short film. The latter illustrates various scenes from Vantage’s past, from his curiosity for the outside world to his friendship with a bat, to end with a tragic fall, which will force his mother to call for help.
Here is the information officially released by Electronic Arts. Gold, a few weeks ago, Vantage and its abilities were leaked on a Reddit forum. Thus, the community had access to a detailed character profile, where it was possible to identify the abilities of the hunter.
According to leaked gameplay, Vantage can gather intel for his team by aiming at targets with a “long range scope” or unarmed, and targeting an enemy. Targeting an enemy will reveal the Legend the target is using, the rarity level of the Body Shield they have equipped, their squad size, and the distance between them and the target.
After the release of Stories from the wild lands, the developers of Apex have confirmed that the little white bat that we see in the trailer is indeed Echo, the sidekick of Vantage. A few weeks ago, the leaks had predicted the existence of Echo, as well as the fact that it would be very useful in combat. Echo can be commanded on the map within a certain radius around Vantage, and the Legend can launch directly towards its winged companion.
Vantage has a custom sniper rifle that she can use to shoot enemies. Enemies hit by this rifle are considered “marked”. Marked enemies are scanned by Vantage and spawn for his team. The latter get a 15% increase in damage to marked enemies. Vantage’s rifle damage also doubles on successive shots she lands.
Of course, not all of these skills have been confirmed by EA, and they are likely to differ slightly from the description given in the leaks. One thing is sure, Vantage appears to be a tactical legend, created for players who master long-range combat. From her description, Mira is akin to Bloodhound because of her side “hunter”, as well as its link with a winged animal (raven for Bloodhound, bat for Vantage). However, the two Legends are very different and their combat techniques are just as different.
