Is FC Bayern threatened with a flick farewell?
Hansi Flick became the savior at FC Bayern last year. The trainer is more successful than anyone before him for a long time. This of course makes it interesting for other teams as well. Among other things, apparently again for the national soccer team – and that could be the club's undoing.
After being promoted to head coach in December 2019, Hansi Flick quickly put FC Bayern back on the road to success and won the triple at the end of the season. Although the successful coach still has a contract until 2023, the Munich allegedly threatens an early exit. As the "Sport Bild" reports, Flick's whereabouts are "by no means certain".
The magazine lists Karl-Heinz Rummenigge's withdrawal as a reason for the 55-year-old's unclear future. The CEO is Flick's most important contact person at FC Bayern as well as a person of reference and confidante. Rummenigge stops at the end of the year. His successor Oliver Kahn has been trained for some time, but is not yet as close to the team and the coaching team as his predecessor.
Added to this are the constant tensions with sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. Flick and the 44-year-old are said to have been infected many times in the past, and transfer questions repeatedly cause trouble between the two, according to "Sport Bild".
The fact that the eight newcomers Leroy Sané, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Douglas Costa, Bouna Sarr, Marc Roca, Tiago Dantas, Tanguy Nianzou and Alexander Nübel have not yet been able to convince, also provides "discussion material". While Flick rates his current squad as weaker than in the triple year, the club's management, on the other hand, sees the coach as having an obligation to push the newcomers to their top performances – further potential for conflict. In addition, the supervisory board is very close to Salihamidzic, especially when it comes to management issues, closer than Flick.
Flick has already shown in the past that he has no problem looking for a new challenge before the end of his contract if the working conditions are not right. He gave up prematurely as assistant to national coach Joachim Löw, as DFB sports director or as managing director at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
Flick also maintains good contact with the DFB leadership, after all, he was Loew's assistant coach from 2006 to 2014 and is now considered a tactical puller for the World Cup. According to "Sport Bild" this could become a "problem" for FC Bayern. Because if Löw should stop or be dismissed after the European Championship, the DFB would probably contact the Bayern coach.
