Apple 2023: These gadgets and technologies bring the new year

APPLE

Apple will present a whole range of exciting products in 2023, including the iPhone 15 and VR/AR glasses. You can find out here which products are still to be expected.

What was your Apple highlight from 2022? After all, there were a few products that came as quite a surprise. We remember, for example, the Studio Display or the Apple Watch Ultra (test report). But 2023 is likely to be even more important for Apple and you can look forward to exciting products.

iPhone 15 Ultra

The iPhone 14 (test report) is followed by the iPhone 15 generation – you don’t have to be an analyst or an excellent Apple connoisseur to make this prediction. But it will definitely be interesting to see in which direction Apple pushes its smartphone portfolio.

There are currently many indications that after a long time there will be a stronger distinction between the two Pro models. According to reports, the iPhone 15 Pro will not flank an iPhone 15 Pro Max, but an iPhone 15 Ultra. It remains to be seen whether this actually comes with a digital crown in the style of the Apple Watch Ultra. Everything we already know about the iPhone 15 generation can be found in the linked background article. Be prepared for a sharp price hike.

Several external displays

Apple is rumored to be working on a handful of external displays. According to Bloomberg, this not only includes a successor to the outrageously expensive Pro Display XDR, but also other screens that can be connected to iPads and Macs.

The Studio Display costs significantly less compared to the Pro Display XDR. In 2023 there could be a successor and new model variants.

All screens in the works should have Apple’s own chipsets so as not to unnecessarily affect the computing capacity of the connected device. When exactly the screens will come onto the market is open.

Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2

So far there has been a new generation of the Apple Watch every year, in 2022 it was the Apple Watch Series 8 (test report) and for the first time the Apple Watch Ultra. Little is currently known about the respective successors.

It will be interesting to see whether Apple will integrate the Apple Watch Ultra into the annual update cycle and what innovations the adventure watch will then bring with it. Blood pressure measurement for Apple smartwatches has also been under discussion for years.

New iPads and AirPods

Will 2023 be the year when Apple will present the first iPad model with an OLED display? Uncertain. According to reports, partner Samsung is working on corresponding panels for an upcoming iPad Pro. But whether this will result in a finished product in 2023 remains to be seen.

The release of the Apple AirPods Max 2 seems more realistic. After all, two years have passed since the presentation of the first generation. Apple could equip the closed over-ear headphones with improved sensors and water protection. But that will certainly not be all.

14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro, 15.5″ MacBook Air

Apple’s MacBook Pro lineup was last updated in October 2021. Actually, we were already expecting the corresponding successors in autumn 2022, but that didn’t happen. So it’s about time.

Another Apple notebook, about which rumors persist, should be exciting: A MacBook Air with a 15.5-inch display. It could be a welcome alternative for those who find a 16-inch MacBook Pro too heavy and too expensive.

Apple’s first proprietary glasses

Among all these new announcements, Apple’s long-awaited AR/VR glasses could be the most interesting. CEO Tim Cook has been raving about the possibilities that mixed reality offers for years. This means overlaying reality with artificially generated content.

Imagine walking through the city with your glasses on, looking at a prominent building and immediately receiving information about that building – all without having to pull out your cell phone.

Does the first generation of the rumored “Reality Pro” headset, which is to be flanked by more compact AR glasses called “Apple Glass”, keep what the rumors promise?

Also interesting right now…
