During its back-to-school keynote, Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 alongside the new AirPods Pro. It took three years for the brand to refine an already successful recipe while bringing changes in the era of time. But faced with the formidable AirPods Pro first of the name and ever sharper competition, such as the Sony WF-1000XM4, are the newcomers sufficiently armed?
On the design side, the new generation AirPods Pro are very close to their elders. If the aesthetic side does not present any real novelty, the advances are to be found on the side of the functionalities. The new charging case is thus equipped with a notch for a wrist strap, a speaker and a magnetization system for MagSafe charging, in addition to a tracking system so you never lose your wireless headphones. The addition of a shortcut on the headphones to adjust the volume, as well as the increased autonomy of the new vintage will convince the most reluctant.
On the audio side, the latest products from the Cupertino company benefit from significant advances in sound reproduction. More precise, fairer and more flattering, the latter plays largely in favor of the AirPods Pro 2 which will find a place of choice in the hollow of the ears of music lovers. For their part, the AirPods Pro still deliver a performance at the top of the basket, but must bow to the even more successful newcomer.
Same story on the active noise reduction side where the Pro 2 perfect an already impressive reduction. The new version of Apple plays in one-upmanship with the arrival of an adaptive Transparent mode which allows finer noise filtration according to ambient noise, to stay alert while protecting the wearer’s fragile stinks.
Put together, the qualities of the AirPods Pro (2nd generation) are undeniable and it is difficult to deny them victory. However, the AirPods Pro do not deserve and deliver benefits that always place them among the best true-wireless of the market.
